AFSG Newsletter
February 2019

Welcome to February! How does time move so fast? This months AFSG Newsletter has quite a lot of information so I will get started.

Our first AFSG Social was held at Babbos Resturant on January 30 and by all indications was a tremendous success! Fifty-one members and their wives attended. Not a bad turnout for our first attempt. Information on our next social is given below.

Aqua Fria Room, Cimarron Center

AFSG Board Presents Check to Honor Flight AZ

The AFSG has been notified by Honor Flight AZ President/Historian, Rick Hardina that the AFSG Club has been given a very
“special honor” because of our support over the past 4 years. With our donations totaling over $40,000 to the Honor Flight program we have been told they will be designating, sometime this Spring an entire Honor Flight trip in the name of SCG Armed Forces Support Group!

What a great honor this is! When that flight information becomes available to us, we will pass it on so that members might be present for the flights debarkation and its return to Phoenix. It is a very special event and our WW II Veterans will be given a very special long overdue recognition. Photo Below: Board Members and Rick Hardina.

Jim Bibik

We are sad to announce that one our AFSG members Jim Bibik  recently passed away. Jim Bob, attended our Veteran Coffee Chats and membership meeting whenever he was feeling healthy enough. Please remember Jim, his wife Vlasta and his family in your thoughts and prayers. On Friday, February 22, he will be interned at Cave Creek National Cemetery, 10:30 AM. On Saturday, February 23 Vlasta, at Jim Bob’s house, 4 - 6:30 PM a get together for all to see Jim’s paintings, etc.

Foundation for Service Dog Support Opportunity

The Foundation for Service Dog Support is growing and moving! Literally, they are “moving” and they need some help. See attached job description for what volunteer work needs to be done and a Project Manager opportunity. The moving date is tentative but once a date is confirmed, we will notify you.
The FSDS does a great job training service dogs for Veterans and First Responders.
