A New Years Resolution!

Dear Members

It is hard to believe that the AFSG is entering its 11th year. Since we started as a SCG Special Interest with the Men’s 18 Hole Golf Club and evolved into our current Charter Club status, so much has happened!

However, as successful as we have been raising money, we must continue to work to promote “awareness” of the ongoing issues our Veterans and their families face every day. Veterans obviously had many challenges on the battlefields of war, but these struggles did not end on those foreign soils. They must also return to their “home” to a different battlefield. You can take the soldier out of the war, but it is not as easy to take the war out of the solider. Through no fault of their own, these soldiers did not come home as the same person when they left.

This is why one of the most important goals of the AFSG is to continue to“raise awareness” of our Veterans and their family as they adjust to their new“normal”. As my close friend SGT 1st Class Brian Mancini explained to me during his journey of recovery “the memories are like broken glass in my brain, they will never go away, but the edges are getting a little more rounded”.

So as the New Year rapidly approaches, we are asking all members to make a New Years Resolution to donate at least two hours of your time to help us sell raffle tickets, help with our Golf or Sponsor Reception Dinner on March 13 & 14, 2020, or you can check our Volunteer Opportunity List on our web site: scgarmedforcessupportgroup.ORG

We are also asking our members to invite at least one friend or neighbor
to our next Membership Meeting, February 11, 2020, 10 AM, Aqua Fria Room at the Cimarron Center or attend one of our upcoming AFSG Social activities.

The AFSG Board is very proud of what has been accomplished over the past 10 years, but there are still too many “edges of glass that need to be rounded off”.

Please become an active and participating member. As I stated earlier, we have been very successful raising money, now we need your help to pay something even more priceless, “your time”, to make our vital mission even more successful.

Sincerely, Barry Curseaden Founder/President
