Happy August!

We hope this e-blast finds you and your family safe and cool! It has been a hot summer and it is not over yet!

The AFSG Charter Club reached a very special and significant milestone this year - Over $800,000 raised for our 501 C # Veteran Support Foundation since 2009! Very few if any Charter Clubs or all volunteer clubs can make this claim.

Also with your support, we finally have a Veterans Monument in our community!  Over 10 years in the making and tremendous support at our dedication ceremony!

Attached to this e-blast are 2 articles that you may find interesting if you haven’t already seen them. One is an interview that Bob Aiken and I had with Charles Seiter, a 102 year young Veteran of Omaha Beach. The other is an article about our Veterans Monument Dedication mentioned above.

When you get a chance, please check out our updated web site! Without further adieu, it is time to get ourselves organized for our 2023 - 24 AFSG season so lets get right to it.

Dues are Due

Please note our annual club season begins in September instead of Jan as many other clubs do. If you are already a member just send your $20 check/individual or $30 check/couple made out to the: Armed Forces Support Group 19753 N. Remington Dr. Surprise, AZ. 85374 If you sent in dues over this summer, you are paid for the 23-24 season. It is very important to get this done ASAP. Our Charter Club status/benefits depends our our 100+ paid membership.

Golf Event - Desert Springs

It is not too early to have you help us find donors for our Golf Event Sponsorships, Raffle donors, and Silent Auction Donors. Donor information can be found on our web site: scgarmedforcessupportgroup.ORG.

We would be very willing to make a presentation about our mission to help Veterans to potential donors or Grand Clubs! Just give us the contact information and we will follow up.

Club Elections

We will be having our annual Club Officer Elections at our February 2024 Membership Meeting.

Please give some serious thought to running for the 2024-25 Board. This club is only as good as you wish to make it! We have done some great things and have a great Board to work with. Please remember as part of your membership, we are asking each of you to commit a minimum of 2 hours of volunteer time over the course of the year.

We need your new ideas and energy to make our club even better moving forward. You can and do make a big difference! Please contact Barry if you have any questions regarding Board duties - 623-398-5242.

FYI

I have been given some information regarding a recently retired 25 year Air Force Veteran who is starting up his own window washing business. If you would like to help him and his young family out please contact; David Padilla, Veteran Owner/Operator 909-600-9497, kawika99p@gmail.com I do not know what his rates are, but he comes highly recommended.

Stay safe and we will see you in the Fall!

Barry
